La mente te miente: a manual to escape your own thoughts — Inside your head there’s a casino open all night. The house always wins until someone turns on the light.

The most convincing voice lives behind your eyes
The mind knows your passwords, keeps your worst false takes and has spent years listening in on private conversations. Even so, we tend to believe it without asking for ID.
La mente te miente breaks the contract from the title. It doesn’t say the mind gets distracted. It says it lies. There’s intent, editing and maybe a night office devoted to touching up memories while we sleep.
The cover places Tamar beneath a gigantic brain: film noir and psychological science fiction, thought turned into a mob boss calling a meeting.
When a suspicion disguises itself as a fact
Sometimes a worry rehearses its speech so much that it looks like confirmed news. Memory edits too: it trims a scene, turns up the volume on one phrase and deletes whatever doesn’t fit the version of the day.

Tale: the casino of forged memories
Tamar found the entrance to his mind behind a mirror with a golden knob: AUTHORISED STAFF AND RECURRING THOUGHTS ONLY.
The corridor led into a casino. The slot machines took memories and paid out in insomnia. One promised to predict the future, but all its combinations ended in CATASTROPHE.
In the centre floated an enormous brain with a black hat and a cigar of static. Two muscular hemispheres guarded the table.
—I manage the official versions of your life —it said.
There were folders labelled “Things that will probably go wrong”, “Comments from fifteen years ago” and “Conversations that never happened”. On a screen a perfect memory appeared, except for a grey technician moving the scenery in one corner.
Behind the casino, workers mass-produced thoughts on an assembly line and stuck labels on them: URGENT, INDISPUTABLE, EVERYONE THINKS THIS, IT’S ALREADY TOO LATE.

Turning the narrator’s volume down
A worker revealed the trick: for a mental lie to lose its force, you had to repeat it slowly, with no spotlights or dramatic music. Tamar asked the brain to tell it all again. Out came the cuts, the cardboard and the phrases added afterwards.
The boss shrank until it became a small radio still murmuring from the floor. Tamar didn’t smash it. He turned the volume down.
The story turns thoughts into characters so you can observe them instead of accepting them automatically. It doesn’t aim to give clinical advice: it asks what happens when the narrator lives inside the protagonist and isn’t reliable either.
